via-appia: Burgonet: A mermaidlike siren forming the helmet’s comb holds a grimacing head of Medusa by the hair. The sides of the helmet are covered with acanthus scrolls inhabited by putti, a motif derived from ancient Roman sculpture and wall paintings.
